The Village of Hiram, Ohio is a charming community of 1,200 residents located in northern Portage County, an area known as the Western Reserve. It is home to Hiram College, a nationally respected liberal arts college. Before serving as a decorated general in the Union Army and later as 20th President of the United States, James A. Garfield was one of the first presidents of Hiram College (then named the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute) serving from 1857 to 1861.
